Oakland County Commissioner Gary McGillivray (D-Madison Heights) announces the 4th annual community litter pick-up initiative, Red Oaks Nature Center "Spring Clean-Up" on Sunday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"Spring Clean-Up" is meant to promote keeping community parks, environment, and Red Oaks Nature Center clean, green, and beautiful, in recognition of Earth Day. McGillivray welcomes residents to volunteer and participate in the "Spring Clean Up."
Volunteers will meet at the Red Oaks Nature Center in the George Suarez Woods, located at Hales Street, south of 13 Mile Road between John R and Dequindre, across from the Red Oaks Wave Pool. Safety instructions, supplies and assignments will be provided. The cleanup will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a free light breakfast consisting of coffee and donuts and a free lunch consisting of hot dogs and sloppy joes.
Volunteers under 15-years-of-age must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves and rakes. Trash bags and other clean-up items will be provided. This event will take place rain or shine.
