Young Lawyers Section accepting nominations for 2014 Myrick Award

In 1997 the State Bar of Michigan Young Lawyers Section (YLS) renamed its “Outstanding Young Lawyer Award” in honor of Regeana Myrick, an Executive Council member of the YLS, who passed away in August of that year.  In addition to serving on the YLS Council, Regeana was a dedicated member of many bar associations.  Regeana was committed to education and public service.  She is remembered by her family, friends and colleagues as a bright and charitable woman with many talents who was always mindful of those less fortunate than herself.

The award recognizes individuals making outstanding contributions to the State Bar and the community.  Eligible nominees must be members of the YLS.  Membership in the YLS is automatic for every member in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan who is under the age of thirty-six (36) or who has been admitted to practice for five years or less, whichever period is greater.

The YLS will remember Regeana Myrick this year at the 7th Annual Young Lawyers Summit on May 30-31 at the Lansing Radisson Hotel, where the “Regeana Myrick Outstanding Young Lawyer Award” will be presented during the luncheon on May 31 to a young lawyer who embodies Regeana’s selflessness and scholarly legacy.

Nominations must be submitted no later than Friday, May 2.  For additional information or a nomination form, contact Andrea Irons at andreairons@gmail.com.  For more information on the Young Lawyers Section and details on upcoming events, visit http://michbar.org/younglawyers/.
