Teens accept plea in defacing Detroit buildings

DETROIT (AP) - Three suburban teenagers will perform 60 hours of community service for defacing two buildings in downtown Detroit. Eighteen-year-old Isabella Meteer and 17-year-olds Mackenzie Snitgen and Mary Harder were sentenced Monday as part of a plea deal in Wayne County Circuit Court. They'd been charged with malicious destruction of property for the spray-painting on buildings on Michigan Avenue and Griswold Street on June 22. The community service includes cleaning graffiti from buildings. They also must pay a total of $2,000 in restitution for the damage and court fees. The teens are from Grosse Pointe Woods, a community east of Detroit. Harder's attorney Samuel Churikian tells The Detroit News that his client has "learned a lesson."
