Oakland County Bar Association to host free Legal Aid Clinic series

Not everyone can afford to hire an attorney to answer their legal questions. That is why the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA), in partnership with Oakland County Youth Assistance, will host three free Legal Aid Clinics throughout Oakland County during the month of October Pro Bono Recognition month. The first will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Ferndale Public Library in Ferndale. Additional clinics will be held Tuesday, Oct. 14, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lake Orion and on Monday, Oct. 20, at the Southfield Public Library in Southfield. All clinics will run from 4:30 to 7 p.m. During these free clinics, attorneys and legal aid providers will be on site to provide basic legal information as well as brief advice and counsel in the areas of juvenile, family, probate, criminal, general civil and landlord/tenant matters. Oakland County residents with legal questions are urged to attend these clinics and speak with an attorney volunteer or a representative from Legal Aid and Defender Association, Lakeshore Legal Aid or the Family Law Assistance Project. Legal aid clinics will be offered: - Tuesday, Oct. 7 Ferndale Public Library, 222 E. Nine Mile Rd., Ferndale. - Tuesday, Oct. 14 St. Joseph's Catholic Church 715 N. Lapeer Rd. Lake Orion. - Monday, Oct. 20 Southfield Public Library, 26300 Evergreen Rd., Southfield. To learn more about the clinics or to register, contact the OCBA at 248-334-3400.
