Booth Legal Clinic offers child support help program

The Salvation Army William Booth Legal Clinic and Legal Aid and Defender Association Inc. (LAD) will conduct a child support help program on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Friends Auditorium of Detroit Public Library, 5201 Woodward Ave. Attorneys and child support professionals will be on hand to answer specific case questions. Attendees are asked to bring their current court orders and up-to-date Friend-of-the-Court (FOC) financial information to receive this type of assistance. They can call the FOC at 313-224-5300 to request a current account printout. Attorneys will also help attendees prepare motions to modify child support, apply for payment plans and qualify for the State Arrearage Forgiveness Program. Attendees will also be able to sign up for MiCase, the state's child support self-service (https://micase.state.mi.us/), for online access to their case information. Other resources will include the Wayne County Jury Services Department and information on educational programs and free government cell phone services. The program is one of a series of "Everyday Legal Issues Seminars" supported by various community agencies, including Wayne County Head Start, JVS Jewish Vocational Services, Detroit Head Start Fatherhood Initiative, Wayne County Friend of the Court, Abundant Children & Family Services Agency, Wayne County Mediation Center and Wayne County Community College District.
