Livonia-based cupcake shop to close 10 locations
LIVONIA (AP) - A Livonia-based cupcake shop and bakery has announced most of its locations will close.
Just Baked co-founder Pam Turkin said Monday that the company has decided to close all of its corporately-run locations. Seven stores in Michigan and three in Ohio are closing.
Four Michigan franchise locations in Southgate, Canton, Southfield and Ann Arbor will remain open.
Turkin started Just Baked in 2008 after noticing gourmet cupcake shops popping up on the coasts. The company began with a shop in Livonia and quickly expanded to 17 locations.
Just Baked was ranked by Inc. Magazine in 2013 as the 1,011th fastest-growing company in America with a three-year growth of 426 percent. The company had $3 million in annual revenue and 70 employees in 2012.
The company had hoped to have 200 franchise locations by 2014.
