Supreme Court dismisses case with missing plaintiff

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Supreme Court is saying goodbye to Bobby Chen, wherever he is. The justices last Friday dismissed Chen's appeal in a legal dispute with the city of Baltimore because he missed a deadline for filing his legal papers and has not responded to the court's repeated efforts to contact him. Chen hit the legal jackpot in November, when the court agreed to hear his appeal, which he filed without the benefit of a lawyer. But since then, the court has heard nary a word from him. Chen has been fighting Baltimore officials for years, claiming the city illegally demolished his row house. A lower court threw out his case after he missed a deadline. The justices had agreed to hear Chen's appeal of that ruling. Published: Tue, Jan 13, 2015
