Michigan Supreme Court Justice Mary Beth Kelly (center) addressed the Michigan Association of Treatment Court Professionals (MATCP) highlighting the achievements of Michigan veterans treatment courts as “Champions for Our Healing Heroes” on Tuesday, March 24, at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.  Happy to welcome Kelly to the event were (left to right) Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Phyllis McMillen, Brigadier General Mike Stone, U.S. Marine Corp. veteran Chris Vezina, U.S. Marine Corp. veteran and Wayne County 17th District Veterans Court Coordinator Christopher Krajovic, Wayne County 17th District Court Judge Karen Khalil, and Cass County Probate Court Chief Judge Susan Dobrich who is also MATCP president.  Michigan leads the nation in veterans treatment courts with 22.  These courts promote sobriety, recovery, and stability by offering alternative consequences and specialized treatment to former and current military service members who come into contact with Michigan’s criminal judicial system.
