Automation Alley planning Cuba trip

TROY (AP) — A southeastern Michigan-based business accelerator is planning a trip to Cuba in 2016.

The Oakland Press of Pontiac and The Detroit News report a seminar titled “Cuba: The Next Frontier” is planned for Aug. 6 in advance of the October 2016 trip to seek out potential business opportunities for U.S. companies in Cuba.

Noel Nevshehir, director of international business at Troy-based Automation Alley, says next month’s gathering will gauge further interest among businesses to travel with Automation Alley executives to Cuba for the planned three- to four-day trip.

He says he views Cuba as “kind of an attic that hasn’t been opened in 55 years.” He says the opportunities outweigh the challenges.

Automation Alley has gone on similar trade missions to Saudi Arabia, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and other nations.
