Trial set for man accused of killing his grandchildren's dad

MOUNT CLEMENS (AP) - A judge has scheduled a November trial date for a 76-year-old suburban Detroit man accused of fatally shooting his great-grandchildren's father.

The Macomb Daily reports a trial date was set Tuesday for Nov. 3 for Donald Miller. He's charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 31-year-old Bondaryl McCall Jr. outside Miller's Macomb Township home in February.

Miller's granddaughter and her children lived with him. McCall was her ex-boyfriend and father to three of her kids.

Authorities say McCall had gone to Miller's home to pick up one of his children for visitation. He was shot in the back of the head, and his body was found by Macomb County sheriff's deputies.

An attorney for McCall is expected to seek a verdict of manslaughter.
