Tickets are now available for the 23rd Annual Quality People/Quality County (Q2) Awards breakfast hosted by County Executive L. Brooks Patterson on Wednesday, September 16, at the Auburn Hills Marriott Pontiac at Centerpoint. This year’s honorees include Terence E. “Terry” Adderley, executive chairman of Kelly Services; Stephanie W. Bergeron, president and chief executive officer of Walsh College; and attorney Elbert Hatchett and his wife Laurestine.
Established by Patterson in 1993, the Q2 Awards spotlights businesses and individuals who use their leadership to improve the quality of life in Oakland County.
“We’re inviting people to join us Sept. 16 to honor four distinguished Oakland County residents,” Patterson said. “Q2 recognizes them not only for their remarkable achievements in their careers but also for their contributions to our community.”
Single tickets are $165 or $1,500 for a table of 10. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The program begins at 8 a.m. Proceeds from the breakfast support Boost Oakland Business, a 501(c)(4) organization that promotes business and stimulates job creation through economic development initiatives. Terry Adderley is executive chairman for Kelly Services, a global provider of human resources services. Under his leadership, Kelly Services has received numerous awards for its strong commitment to providing workforce opportunities for women, minorities, the disabled, veterans and seniors. In 2006, he was awarded the Leadership Hall of Fame Award, the highest honor conferred by the American Staffing Association. He serves on numerous corporate and community boards including the Oakland County Business Roundtable.
Stephanie Bergeron has served as president and chief executive officer of Walsh College since 2007 driving growth and excellence. She has presided over major initiatives such as the Driving Aspirations campaign which raised more than $5 million for scholarships; the Take Charge skills-training workshop program for displaced workers; the Blackstone LaunchPad for aspiring student and alumni entrepreneurs; Entrepreneur-YOU, a program providing local women with tools and knowledge for entrepreneurship; and the award-winning Finance Lab.
Motion magazine described Elbert Hatchett, whose distinguished legal career stretches nearly five decades, as “a gifted orator with a flair for legal drama.” Hatchett’s law firm has been the launching point for many African-American attorneys. Behind every great man, of course, is an even greater woman. Laurestine Hatchett’s talent as a pianist is surpassed only by her skills raising three remarkable children with Elbert. Together, their quiet generosity has touched the lives of hundreds of individuals in the Pontiac area.
Past recipients have included the late Ernie Harwell, radio personality Dick Purtan, Beaumont Health, and HAVEN. To date, 66 individuals and organizations have received Q2 awards.
