Commissioner elected first vice president of MAC

The Michigan Association of Counties (MAC) elected board officers and members at its Annual Conference, which was held September 20-22, 2015 at the Grand Traverse Resort. Oakland County Commissioner Shelley Goodman Taub was elected first vice president of the 2015-2016 MAC board.

“I am honored to be elected first vice president of the MAC board,” stated Taub.  “MAC plays an integral role in advocating for, and promoting communication and collaboration between, county officials across our great state.  I look forward to contributing to MAC’s important initiatives and objectives in this new capacity.”

Taub was elected to the Oakland County Board of Commissioners in 1992.  She served until 2002 before being elected state representative from 2003 to 2006.  Taub returned to the Oakland County Board of Commissioners in 2008.  She is the current Republican Caucus chair.

“Shelley is a proven leader on our Board of Commissioners,” stated Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson. “The Michigan Association of Counties will benefit from her experience as a legislator at the county and in Lansing.”

MAC is the only statewide organization dedicated to the representation of all county commissioners in Michigan.  It is a non-partisan, nonprofit entity that advances the education, communication and cooperation among county officials throughout the state.

Taub represents the 12th District on the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, which includes the City of Birmingham, the City of Bloomfield Hills, and the majority of Bloomfield Township.
