Center offers mediation techniques at trainings

Oakland Mediation Center (OMC) invites legal professionals to its 2016 mediation trainings. OMC offers 40-Hour General Civil and Domestic Relations Mediation Trainings to any individual who wishes to learn and enhance their skills to help others resolve their disputes. Mediation training can enhance one’s current skill set and marketability, allow eligibility for the court list of approved mediators, and improve communication and negotiating skills personally and professionally.

The State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) approved “40-Hour General Civil Mediation Training” teaches participants the skills necessary to act as mediators in facilitating the resolution of civil disputes from the initial consultation to writing the mediation agreement. This training will be held January 15, 22, 29, February 5, 12, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.  The cost of training is $1,095. Participants will receive a detailed mediation manual, jump-drive containing reproducible mediation forms, as well as a certificate of attendance. Those completing their training at OMC become eligible for discounts on practical experience opportunities.

The “40-Hour Domestic Relations Mediation Training” is a 6-day, highly interactive training designed to teach participants the skills necessary to act as mediators in facilitating the resolution of divorce and custody issues. OMC’s upcoming training will be held February 23, March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.  Cost for training is $1,490.00 and includes the newly updated, State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) required 8-Hour Domestic Violence Screening Training for mediators, detailed mediation manual, jump-drive containing reproducible mediation forms, and certificate of attendance.
“OMC has been committed to providing quality mediation training for over 20 years,” said Bonnie Hanes, OMC executive director. “These trainings are designed to give participants skills they can use immediately to serve their clients and make a lasting impact on our community.”

OMC’s trainings are approved by SCAO and are designed to be highly interactive and skill based. The trainings take place at Oakland Mediation Center in Bloomfield Hills and include continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, and course materials.
