Court hearing held for motorist in state trooper's traffic death

CLARKSTON (AP) - Testimony has been heard in the preliminary examination of a 69-year-old Oakland County man charged in the traffic death of a state police trooper.

The Oakland Press of Pontiac reports that witnesses in Clarkston District Court Wednesday described seeing something being dragged by a trailer attached to a car Charles Warren Jr. was driving.

Trooper Chad Wolf was on patrol Aug. 28 in Springfield Township when a car and trailer collided with his motorcycle. Wolf was snatched from the motorcycle, trapped beneath the car or trailer and dragged several miles before the car's driver pulled into a freeway rest area.

Warren is charged with reckless driving causing death and failing to stop at the scene of a fatal accident.

His preliminary examination is scheduled to continue Feb. 24.
