Seminar series aimed at new attorneys

Waiting for bar results is a stressful time for new graduate students. It is no less stressful once the bar results are in and new attorneys start building their own practices, whether within an established firm or as a solo practice. The Oakland County Bar Association has the antidote for that stress in the form of a two-part seminar series titled OCB-ABC’s of Practice.  Seminar participants will have the opportunity to hear from distinguished guest speakers on a variety of topics and get valuable insights and tips for starting their legal careers.

“Hanging Out Your Own Shingle,” the first session in the series, is a moderated panel discussion on how to establish and market a solo practice.  Panelists include Michael Hamblin, Rachel Loebl, and Amanda Page – all successful solo practitioners in Oakland County.  “Résumés and Interviews” provides tips on networking, resume-writing, and acing a job interview.  Presenters Elizabeth L. Luckenbach from Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer, & Weiss and Linda S. Jevahirian of Legal Search & Management Inc. will walk participants through the job search process.

OCB-ABC’s of Practice will be presented on Thursdays, April 21 and 28, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Oakland County Bar Association offices at 1760 South Telegraph Road, Suite 100, in Bloomfield Hills.  Seminar fees are $10 per seminar or $15 for both seminars.  Register online at www.ocba.org/events.
