CYBERSPACE SIGHTING: Legal experts to explore 'Intermediate Real Estate Financing' in ABA webinar series

The three-part CLE webinar series, "Intermediate Real Estate Financing," is designed for attorneys with basic experience in real estate financing who want to expand their knowledge. Program speakers are leading industry practitioners with in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in real estate law. Attendees can register for the entire series or individual sessions.

"Intermediate Real Estate Financing - A Three Part Series," sponsored by the American Bar Association Section of Real Property Trust and Estate Law and American College of Real Estate Lawyers, will be presented from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on March 30, April 13, and May 18.

Program schedule:

Wednesday, March 30

Session 1: "Let's Get This Project Built - What's Market in Construction Lending Today?" - Construction finance requires an understanding of the project and the issues that concern the developer, as well as the lender's concerns and ways to mitigate the lender's risk. This panel will address construction loan checklists, zoning compliance, third-party construction agreements, mechanics' liens, the draw process and payment and completion guaranties.

Wednesday, April 13

Session 2: "It's All About the Money - Leases as Collateral" - This session will focus on leases from the lender's perspective. Because leases are the primary source of repayment for most commercial mortgage loans, the panel will discuss what's important to the lender and why.

Wednesday, May 18

Session 3: "Covenants in Mortgage Documents - More and More, Not Less" - Panelists in this session will discuss DSCR and LTV Ratios, transfer of equity interests in the borrowing entity, nonrecourse carve-outs, high volatility commercial real estate and HVCRE covenants and syndicated loans.
