U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn (center) was the recipient of the Public Service Award at the Third Annual Patrick Henry Event March 10 at the Community House in Birmingham. The event was held in honor of the Patriot of the Year Award recipients and commemorated the anniversary of Patrick Henry’s “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death!” speech. Other honorees were Professor John Todd (Military Service Award) and The Detroit Free Press (Organization Award). Cohn, a member of the federal bench since 1979, is pictured with Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Michael Warren (right), the co-founder of Patriot Week activities with his daughter Leah, and special guest Christopher Lowell (left), who portrayed Benjamin Franklin at the event.
