For the third summer running, University of Detroit Mercy School of Law welcomed aspiring attorneys to its Riverfront campus for Just the Beginning—A Pipeline Organization’s Summer Legal Institute. This weeklong seminar teaches Detroit-area high school students about the study and practice of law, college readiness, and networking.

From July 31-August 4, students met with volunteer attorneys and members of the judiciary, visited the courts, practiced negotiation skills, attended workshops on college readiness and business networking, and participated in an oral argument competition. The week culminated in a reception and award ceremony. The program is free to students with breakfast, lunch, and travel included.
