Series starts with a look at 'Hanging Out Your Shingle,' September 26

The Oakland County Bar Association introduces its new Law and Practice Management Series focusing on best practices for starting and maintaining a law practice. The series begins with “Law Practice Management Series: Hanging Out Your Shingle” on Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the OCBA offices, 1760 S. Telegraph Rd., Suite 100, in Bloomfield Hills.

Speakers include Timothy Flynn of Clarkston Legal, Judith S. Gracey of The Gracey Law Firm, Amanda A. Page of Page Law PLLC, and Richard S. Victor of Law Offices of Richard S. Victor and Of Counsel Hertz Schram PC. 

The panel will walk attendees through an analysis of what it takes to start one’s own law practice. Topics of discussion will include:

• The skills and personality you need to run your own business.
• Deciding whether to take on a partner.
• Will you have a virtual or physical office?
• What is the best business entity for your firm?
