Jury Office provides enhanced services regarding juror service

The Jury Office for the Oakland County Circuit and Probate Courts is migrating to a new computer system offering enhanced services for all Oakland County citizens who receive a summons for jury service.

This application will provide more communication options for citizens while improving efficiency for the courts. The enhancement is the result of a cooperative selection and purchasing effort between the Oakland County Circuit and Probate Courts, the Oakland County Jury Commission, the 44th, 46th, 50th, and 52nd District Courts, as well as the Genesee County Circuit Court and the 67th District Court.

Implementation of the new system has begun for Oakland County Circuit and Probate Courts. Jurors who receive a summons after September 18th will have the opportunity to complete their juror questionnaire online from a computer or mobile device by going to www.oakgov.com/jury and clicking on the green “Complete Juror Questionnaire” link to continue to the eResponse portal.

Jurors who do not have access to a computer will be able to mail in their questionnaire or, for the Oakland County Circuit and Probate Courts, can use one of the available kiosks in the jury office on the morning of their service. In addition, jurors can opt to receive communications about their service by email, text, or automated phone call.

The new system includes features such as:

• Interactive voice response phone system for jurors to check on the status of their service or deferral and exemption requests by telephone or text message.

• Viewing general information about jury service and the court they are required to report to as well as update personal information – work and home telephone numbers, email address, and more.

• Making requests online to be excused, disqualified, or deferred and leave detailed messages regarding requests.

• Printing attendance letters, complete with dates of service and amounts paid, with the ability to reprint summons or juror questionnaire.

• Scheduling a reminder email, text message or a call for jury service.

• Choosing to be notified of the disposition of their request by email, text message, or telephone.

• Link to Google Maps to get directions from residence to the court with the click of a button.

• Ability to call or text the court 24/7 and listen to general information about jury service and the court they are required to report to.

• Using courthouse kiosks to complete questionnaires and print attendance letters.

• Allowing court staff tools to expedite the check-in process and attend to jurors more efficiently.
