Schuette releases OK2SAY Numbers

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette today released the September OK2SAY tip numbers. OK2SAY received 397 tips in September, which is 30% more tips than last September, which is a 30% increase over last September.

Top tip categories include:

Suicide - 99
Bullying - 59
Drugs - 51
Other (e.g., anxiety, stress, depression, harassment) - 31
Self-harm - 28

“Michigan's school safety initiative works,” said Schuette. "OK2SAY is the number one reporting tool in Michigan for students. It is clear that students are using it to report when they feel unsafe, or when they are feeling alone and vulnerable.”

The Attorney General's Office offers FREE Student Safety programming for K-12th grade students, parents, guardians, and community leaders. To date, more than two million Michigan students have attended a presentation.

Students in K-5th grade receive age-appropriate instruction from the Michigan Cyber Safety Initiative (CSI), a national award-winning program and feeder program for OK2SAY. Students in 6th-12th grade receive dynamic OK2SAY student safety programming.

Adults can learn about these two safety programs and how to host them by attending the Community Seminar or Program Overview. Scheduling is fast and easy on the OK2SAY website.
