Woman who tripped at local Clinton event loses lawsuit

DETROIT (AP) - A woman who fell on her face at a 2016 political event for Hillary Clinton has lost her bid to pin responsibility on the Michigan Democratic Party and a casino.

Awham Zoma says she tripped on a power cord that was taped to the floor in a ballroom at the MGM Grand Casino. She believes it might have been used by TV crews covering Clinton's appearance.

But the state appeals court says there's no evidence that the Democratic Party placed the cord that caused Zoma's fall. The casino noted that it was a "huge media event" with TV crews operating independently.

The appeals court affirmed a Wayne County judge's decision to dismiss the lawsuit.
