'Preventing Wire Fraud' focus of MMLA luncheon

The Michigan Mortgage Lenders Association, Southeast Chapter, will present a panel luncheon on “Preventing Wire Fraud” on Thursday, May 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Maggiano’s Little Italy, 2089 W. Big Beaver Rd. in Troy.

Wire fraud is a multibillion-dollar business nationwide, with far reaching third parties involved around the world. It affects potentially every purchase and refinance transaction closing at a title company. It impacts every mortgage banker, mortgage broker, mortgage servicer and just about every title company in the state of Michigan. Wire Fraud could financially harm not only the buyer/seller who sends the wire, but it could financially harm the corresponding realtor and/or mortgage lender too.  Several local title company experts will discuss this topic and answer questions.

Cost for the lunch is $30 for MMLA members and $40 for non-members.  To register, visit the events calendar on the website at www.mmla.net.
