ATLAS Space Operations was selected to represent the work of America’s Small Business Development Centers (ASBDC) at the Fifth Annual Client Showcase Reception on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. on February 11. Nominated by the Michigan Small Business Development Center (Michigan SBDC), ATLAS Space Operations is one of ten businesses selected from across the nation to be a guest at the annual, invite-only reception.
Based in Traverse City, ATLAS Space Operations empowers global access to space through Freedom™, a simple solution for processing and analyzing data from space, utilizing a global antenna network powered by a revolutionary cloud-based software. The company recently announced a $5 million investment round led by Farmington Hills-based Beringea LLC.
As satellite usage grows, the latest investment round will allow ATLAS to grow its Freedom™ software platform, virtualizing and automating access to hundreds of ground nodes on a global scale. ATLAS attributes its growth in part to its work with the Michigan SBDC Technology Team.
“The Michigan SBDC helped us evolve from a young startup with leaders who were wearing many hats to operating more like a mature company. We now have a strategic plan, we collaborate as a team, and execute in an environment where we celebrate our wins and learn from our mistakes,” said ATLAS Chief Strategy Officer, Mike Carey. “Our culture allows us to be client-centric, nimble, and innovative.”
ATLAS’s forward-thinking communications solutions are transforming the space industry by making ground communication more simple, affordable and scalable than ever before. Throughout the last year, the company has supported numerous client space missions including those of BlackSky Global and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

ATLAS Space Operations has also been able to collaborate with the U.S. military to develop communication products. The space operations company has also expanded its land footprint to 13 ground station sites.
