The Michigan Creditors Bar Association (MCBA) will present a Huddle Webinar on Tuesday, November 17, from 2 to 2:30 p.m. via Zoom.
MCBA Board Member Greg Dye will host attorneys, Jesse Roth and Brian Mitzel of Maddin, Hauser, Roth & Heller PC for a discussion about the FDCPA/COVID cases filed in the Eastern District of Michigan.
The discussion will highlight Maddin, Hauser, Roth, & Heller defense of these cases, and the standing and Shady Grove issues raised in those cases. The webinar will also provide a legislative update regarding proposed changes to the FDCPA in light of the pandemic—specifically, the Hero’s Act (passed by the House but died in the Senate) which includes legislation addressing the FDCPA and future regulations that would be implemented during this pandemic and/or any future states of emergency.
Roth is a shareholder and member of Maddin Hauser’s Defense and Appellate Practice Groups. He has defeated class actions in consumer cases and has had multiple wins in the Sixth Circuit this year in FDCPA cases.
Mitzel is an associate and member of Maddin Hauser’s Defense and Insurance Coverage Practice Group. He concentrates his practice on a range of issues including professional liability, employment and general liability. Mitzel also has experience defending FDCPA claims and has obtained multiple dismissals based on lack of standing.
