Circuit Court and Probate Court jury trials cancelled

The Sixth Judicial Circuit Court and the Oakland County Probate Court continue their efforts to ensure the health and safety of the public and all who conduct business in the Circuit and Probate Courts.

Working with the Oakland County Public Health officials, the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court and the Oakland County Probate Court have established necessary protocols and procedures and have created an extensive safety plan which included installation of plexi-shield barriers in the courtrooms.

However, after thoughtful consideration of the health and safety of jurors, litigants, attorneys, and employees, the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court and the Oakland County Probate Court have decided to cancel all jury trials through January 11, 2021. Jurors who have received a summons will be notified that their jury service has been completed and will not be required to serve as a juror for the courts for at least the next 12 months. This decision was made due to the dramatic rise in COVID cases in Oakland County and throughout Michigan.

The courts will continue hearing other matters remotely via Zoom.  Jury trials and other in-person trials are expected to resume starting mid-January.
