Law school collaborates on National Day of Healing from Racism, January 19

In the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Wayne State University's Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the Office of Multicultural Student Engagement, and Wayne Law's Detroit Equity Action Lab are collaborating on Tuesday, January 19, for the National Day of Healing from Racism.

The program will offer a series of virtual events from 10 a.m. to 7:40 p.m. in an effort to heal the wounds created by racial, ethnic, and religious bias and build an equitable and just society where everyone can thrive. To heal from and end racism, citizens need to tell the truth about past and current wrongs and address the consequences created by individual and systemic racism.

Various virtual sessions will be held throughout the day, so registrants are encouraged to participate as their schedule allows. Examples of sessions include:

  • Morning Guided Meditation/Affirmation
  • Fishbowl Discussion
  • Lunch Dialogue
  • Art Therapy
  • Healing by Choice Self-Care
  • Resting Deeper into the Self & Our Connections During the Pandemic
  • Letter to our People
  • Poetry Showcase

A Zoom link will be sent to registrants close to the start of the program. To register, visit https://rsvp.wayne.edu/national-day-of-healing-from-racism.
