Nominees needed for OCBA Board by February 1

Are you interested in helping your bar association stay relevant within the rapidly changing legal environment? Do you want to make a meaningful contribution to the legal profession and to your community? If so, then submit your name for nomination to the board of directors of the Oakland County Bar Association.

The Nominating Committee, chaired by OCBA Immediate Past President Daniel D. Quick, will be meeting soon to develop a slate of candidates for this year's election process. The OCBA's bylaws require that the Nominating Committee submit at least one name but no more than two names for each open board position. This year there are four three-year terms to be filled.

Potential candidates are asked to submit a letter of intent; a Personal Data Form outlining your contributions to the legal profession, involvement in committees and your area of law practice; and a signed Board of Directors Responsibilities and Expectations Form. The last two items are included in the nomination materials.

It is important to note that when considering applications, the Nominating Committee places great emphasis on past bar service. The OCBA bylaws also require that in order to be a director, you must have been a regular OCBA member, which includes the Public Service member category, for the past four consecutive years (join date on or before July 1, 2017).

Completed applications are due at the OCBA no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, February 1.
