'Receiverships in the Age of COVID-19 and Beyond' discussed online

The Oakland County Bar Association’s Real Estate and Debtor/Creditor Committees will present “We Can Work It Out: Receiverships in the Age of COVID-19 and Beyond” as an online webinar on Thursday, May 6, from noon to 1:30 p.m. via Zoom. 

Professionals who work with commercial clients need to be up-to-date on the current rules regarding bankruptcy and receivership. This overview of receiverships will look at how they work generally and provide  updates for today’s practitioner in the light of COVID-19. Topics of discussion will include:

  • Basic Elements of Receivership Actions and Procedure for Appointment
  • How and when it can be used instead of Bankruptcy
  • Overview of the amended Receivership Act, (MCL 554.1011 et seq., which was substantially amended by 2020 PA 210)
  • Impact of COVID-19 on Receiverships

Speaking at the webinar will be Joseph K. Grekin of Schafer & Weiner PLLC, Michael Kalil of NAI Global/Farbman Group, Mark Kassab of M. Shapiro Real Estate Group, John W. Polderman of Simon PLC, and moderator Kaitlyn Elias of Kitch, Drutchas, Wagner, Valitutti, & Sherbrook.

Cost for the online program is $35 for OCBA members; $25 for OCBA Professional Development Committee members; $25 for  OCBA new lawyers, paralegals, and students; and $45 for non-members.
