WMU-Cooley Law School’s Auburn Hills campus hosted a Mock Trial competition on Saturday, March 16. During the competition, the team of Hilary Bahri and Danny Batti competed against solo litigator Mina Zaki. The team of Batti and Bahri ended up with the highest score and won the competition.
During the competition, students were asked to conduct a murder trial, including opening and closing statements, witness examination and evidence production. Students and AH Mock Trial Board members Jason Kolb and Cody Ellwanger organized the event, helped draft and edit the problem and helped train the student litigants.
Kolb and Ellwanger were winners of last term’s Mock Trial competition, and Kolb commented that “participating in and winning the Mock Trial competition was one of my most rewarding experiences that helps prepare me for the real practice of law so far in law school.” Ellwanger agreed and said “We are so fortunate that WMU-Cooley provides us with multiple practical experiences so that we graduate ready for our professions.”
WMU-Cooley graduate Attorney Mark Splain judged the competition.
