Lakeshore Legal Aid receives $57,500 in funding

The Oakland County Bar Foundation recently awarded Lakeshore Legal Aid two grants totaling $57,500. These grants help support Lakeshore’s work of providing free legal assistance to low-income individuals and older adult residents of Oakland County. Lakeshore oversees two programs in Oakland County: the Family Law Assistance Project (FLAP) and the Estate Planning Clinic (EPC).

FLAP offers free legal services to low-income individuals, addressing their critical needs to ensure safety and security within their homes. This includes handling various family law matters such as domestic violence cases, prolonged custody disputes, paternity issues, child support cases, and divorce proceedings.

EPC provides essential life-planning documents to address a gap in legal services for older adults living on relatively modest incomes.

The grants received from the Oakland County Bar Foundation play a crucial role in helping FLAP and EPC fulfill one of the Foundation’s core objectives: to make legal services accessible to all members of the public.

For additional information about FLAP and EPC, contact 248-530-9330. For details about FLAP clinic days and times, go to the Michigan Legal Help Clinics and Events website at https://michiganlegalhelp.org/legal-clinics-and-events.
