Federal judge takes oath
An investiture ceremony for U.S. District Court Judge Brandy R. McMillion (center), Eastern District of Michigan, took place Friday, May 31, in Courtroom 110 in the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse in Detroit. During the ceremony, McMillion’s children, Briana, Bryce, and Brayden, presented her with the judicial robe and husband Brian McMillion held the Bible as she took the oath. The U.S. Senate confirmed McMillion to the federal bench last November. McMillion has served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan since 2015. She has served as the chief of the office’s General Crimes Unit since 2022. Previously, McMillion was a senior litigation associate at Bryan Cave LLP from 2012 to 2015, an associate at Perkins Coie LLP from 2007 to 2012, and an associate at Pepper Hamilton LLP from 2006 to 2007. She received her law degree from George Washington University Law School in 2006 and her B.S.E. and her M.S.E. from the University of Michigan in 2001 and 2002.
