Law Day 2010 celebration in the federal courthouse

 The United States District Court and the Eastern District of Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association are jointly hosting a Law Day open house on Monday, May 3, 2010. The open house will take place from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Theodore Levin United States Courthouse in Detroit, Michigan. The focus of Law Day 2010 is "Law in the 21 Century"; Enduring Traditions, Emerging Challenges. The official unveiling of the special exhibit, the Presidents Wall, will take place at 11:30 a.m. Bomb-sniffing dogs, counterfeit currency and confiscated firearms will be among the many featured exhibits.

The complimentary program is open to the public and will include courthouse tours, an "Ask the Lawyer" pro bono program, and free hot dogs, chips and cookies. Those who work downtown are encouraged to attend and to bring their family, friends or clients. Please remember that  photo identification is required for entrance into the Courthouse and cellular telephones are not permitted.
Several agencies are participating including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Coast Guard, Border Patrol, Consumer Bankruptcy Association, Courthouse Museum, Drug Enforcement Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Federal Defender's Office, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Attorney's Office, U.S. District Court, U.S. Probation Department, U.S. Pretrial Services Agency, U.S. Marshals Service and Wayne County Sheriffs Department.
