Community Foundation offers scholarships
The Jackson Community Foundation offers nearly 30 competitive scholarships in various fields of academic study, ranging from medicine and health care to teacher education, automotive services, and engineering.
Many scholarships are renewable, which means that applicants, if eligible, can reapply for the scholarships throughout their educational career. Scholarship awards range from $500-$5,000.
In 2011 alone, the Jackson Community Foundation awarded more than $154,500 in competitive academic scholarships. Such large scholarship aid to the community is due to generous donors who establish scholarship funds to enable greater access to education, to promote a wide variety of careers, and to support leadership and civic responsibility in Jackson County.
Additional information, eligibility requirements, and applications can be found at www.jacksoncf.org/scholarships.html.
The Jackson Community Foundation also awards the Jackson Legacy Scholarship to qualifying Jackson County high school graduates who plan to attend Jackson Community College, Spring Arbor University, or Baker College of Jackson. A separate application for this scholarship can be found at http://www.jacksoncf.org/jacksonlegacy.html.
All scholarship applications and materials are due by March 1, 2012.
For more information, contact Dana Emerson at 517-787-1321 or demerson@jacksoncf.org.
