Soultivity band will play in Lawyers Got Talent
Soultivity, a Washtenaw County all-lawyer band and one of the featured acts at the ICBA Lawyers' Got Talent event, is one of five bands that have advanced to the next round of the Battle of the Lawyer Bands Contest to be held at the American Bar Association 2012 Annual Meeting in Chicago.
The band is seeking votes in its quest to among the three top vote getters that will be invited to play at the President's Reception at the Art Institute of Chicago on Saturday, August 4.
Voting for your favorite band is open to the general public and will end on Friday, June 1 at 5 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded to each band as follows: First Place - $5000, Second Place - $2500, Third Place - $1000.
Soultivity members have agreed to donate the money to the Washtenaw County Bar Association's Law and Justice Fund, which promotes affordable and meaningful access to the justice system in Washtenaw County.
Washtenaw County Assistant Prosecutor John Reiser, who sings and plays keyboard with the band, says that getting together with the eight other attorneys to play music has been a lot of fun.
''Since all of our gigs have been for various charities, and mainly attended by our friends, we've been blessed by very kind audiences,'' he says. ''None of us are professional musicians, so it's quite an honor to be selected as one of the five bands to be voted on in the ABA contest.''
Soultivity groupies are urged to send the link to friends and relatives, and post it on Facebook.
