Message from your SBM president-elect:
Dear Fellow State Bar of Michigan Member:
As your State Bar president-elect, I am pleased to invite you to join us in giving back to our profession and the public it serves by applying for appointment to an SBM committee. In the next few weeks the State Bar staff and I will review and evaluate the work of each committee and its members and I will begin making appointments for the 2012-2013 Bar year.
Committee service is an excellent way for SBM members to make a difference in our profession and the justice system. To reduce the interference with your personal, family, and work commitments, we are committed to using technology wisely to minimize the time spent attending SBM committee meetings. Meetings often take place by conference call, and materials and agendas are generated electronically. These technological advances make it easier than ever for committees to communicate and share information with their members.
From personal experience, I can tell you that my committee service not only gave me great insight into what the State Bar does on a daily basis to help its members and serve the public, but it also introduced me to lawyers from around the state who became great sources of inspiration, friendship, and support. Together, you will help implement our Strategic Plan and build effective programs that benefit Michigan lawyers and the public. Unquestionably, these benefits will long outlast the duration of your service.
Please review the Committee page to see a list of the Bar's committees. When considering committee services, please note that the SBM does not reimburse committee members for travel, lodging, or other expenses.
Applying for a committee appointment is easier and quicker than ever. Begin the application process by clicking the Electronic Application link below. Please accept this invitation and apply for a committee appointment by the May 11, 2012, deadline.
Sincerely,
Bruce A. Courtade
President-Elect, State Bar of
Michigan
