Annual M-15 Heritage Route Car Rally scheduled, June 2
May 18, 2012--The second annual M-15 Heritage Route Car Rally is scheduled for Saturday, June 2, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. ''The Heritage Rally'' allows participants to visit historic villages along the route while enjoying free food and giveaways. The event will stretch from Clarkston to Vassar, almost the full length of the M-15 Heritage Route.
Whether you have a classic car or an everyday ride, anyone can participate. The rally is expected to be a first-class event that will benefit all the communities along the M 15 Heritage Route. Passport value books will be available at participating businesses along the route, with proceeds to benefit local service organizations.
The M-15 Coalition, a partnership of local units of governments, including area chambers of commerce and municipalities, and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), planned the rally. Also assisting in organizing the event was a subcommittee of affiliated communities and several local car show promoters.
The M-15 Coalition serves to promote, preserve and protect the recreational resources of M-15 through heightened awareness of the route. In addition to aiding in the revitalization of small towns along M-15, the coalition assists MDOT in relieving traffic congestion along northbound I-75 during peak travel and tourism seasons.
