Jackson BPW president honored for service
Stefanie Riggs, the new president of the Jackson Business and Professional Women (BPW) group, received the Harriet A. Myer Woman of Achievement award at the BPW's annual state convention.
The Harriet A. Myer award honors outstanding achievement by a woman in her profession or in service to her community during the year prior to the convention. Riggs, director of marketing and public relations at Ganton Retirement Centers, was recognized for her numerous commitments and achievements.
Riggs is a member of the Jackson County United Way's Women's Leadership Council, an affinity group of the United Way founded with the mission of helping women and children succeed. She is also board president of the Jackson County Rose Festival and is active in the Kiwanis Club. Riggs serves on the Alzheimer's Association Board of Directors and chairs the Jackson Walk committee.
The Jackson BPW meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month at the Cascades Manor House at noon. Its mission is to achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education and information.
