Ann Arbor attorney elected shareholder

John A. Lingl, an attorney in the Ann Arbor office of Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, has been elected a shareholder in the firm. Lingl focuses his practice on patent, copyright and trademark litigation. In addition, he prosecutes both foreign and domestic patent applications in numerous areas, including semiconductors, electrical systems, voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) systems, packet switching and routing, network traffic optimization, and Internet search technologies. Earlier this year, Lingl was named a Rising Star by Michigan Super Lawyers, which recognizes attorneys in the state who are 40 years old or younger or have been practicing for 10 years or less.. Lingl holds a J.D. from The Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from Kettering University. In addition to Lingl, five other attorneys were elected as shareholders at Brinks effective January. They are Bashir M.S. Ali, David P. Lindner, Stephen C. Smith, Scott A. Timmerman and Mircea A. Tipescu. "Each of these six attorneys has demonstrated excellence in client service and expertise in important aspects of intellectual property law," said James R. Sobieraj, Brinks' president.
