A most wanted Flint fugitive arrested
On Wednesday May 15, 2013, McConnie Baker Jr., who was wanted for the 2012 murder of his brother Michael Demtrus Veal in the 200 block of Mary Street, was arrested. Baker was also wanted for assault with intent to murder and outstanding warrants for various felony firearms-related crimes. The charges were the result of an investigation led by the Michigan State Police and Flint Police Department Major Crimes Detective Bureau.
At approximately 11:58 p.m. a Flint police officer was on patrol in the area of Marquette and Tiffin streets, an area that had been experiencing burglaries and larcenies from automobiles, when the officer observed Baker behaving suspiciously around a parked vehicle. Baker quickly walked to the back door of a residence and when the security light came on he fled the scene. A short time later he was apprehended by police.
Baker initially provided a false name but further investigation revealed his true identity. He has been lodged at the Flint City Jail for a 3 count felony warrant for homicide, a 3 count felony warrant for CCW, and a misdemeanor traffic warrant.
