Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss host stress management event with Kids Kicking Cancer and the Empowerment Plan

Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss, in partnership with Kids Kicking Cancer, recently hosted a stress management seminar for women involved with The Empowerment Plan. Jaffe CEO Bill Sider made the announcement.

Along with Jaffe attorneys, Kids Kicking Cancer Founder Rabbi Elimelech Goldberg and children in the program visited with women at The Empowerment Plan and taught breathing and relaxation techniques used in the Kids Kicking Cancer program, which help manage pain and deal with stress. The event, which was organized by Jaffe’s Not-For-Profit Practice Group, connected two of metro Detroit’s most impactful nonprofits.

“Kids Kicking Cancer and The Empowerment Plan bring priceless value to many lives in metro Detroit,” said Jennifer Oertel, partner at Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss and Not-For-Profit Practice Group leader. “It is a privilege to be a part of this event and help further advance these internationally recognized for-impact organizations.’

The Empowerment Plan employs and trains homeless women to become full-time seamstresses, who manufacture a garment that serves as both a coat and a sleeping bag. The coats the women make are then distributed back to homeless individuals within thecommunity at no cost.

Kids Kicking Cancer was founded in metro Detroit and helps children manage the stress and pain of their disease through mind-body techniques found in martial arts, healing them physically, spiritually and emotionally. Through personalized coaching instructed by black belt martial artists, these children achieve power, peace and purpose.

Jaffe’s Not-For-Profit Practice Group counsels a wide variety of nonprofit and charitable organizations throughout the nation, including family foundations, cultural institutions, and other educational, religious and social impact organizations.
