Monday profile: Jacob A. Perrone

 Jacob A. Perrone was born and raised in Lansing.  He attended the University of Central Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in legal studies.  Perrone then earned his J.D. from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School and became a member of the Michigan Bar in 2008.  He started Perrone Law, P.C. in January 2010 and practices primarily in the areas of criminal defense, family law, real estate, and commercial transactions throughout Michigan.

What is your most treasured material possession? Golf clubs.

 

What advice do you have for someone considering law school? Research your options and take advantage of second year internships.

 

Favorite local hangouts: Hawk Hollow Golf Course, Eagle Eye Golf Course.

Favorite app? Tiger Woods My Swing.

 

What is your happiest childhood memory?  A Cedar Point trip.

 

What would surprise people about your job? The amount of writing that is required.

 

What do you wish someone would invent? Hovercraft.

 

What has been your favorite year so far? 2012 because it was the year I got married. 

 

What’s your most typical mood? Busy.

 

Why did you become a lawyer? To provide myself with the best opportunity to be successful.

 

If you could trade places with someone for a day, who would that be? Michael Jordan.

 

What’s the most awe-inspiring place you’ve ever been? Maui.

 

What did you do last weekend? I played golf and watched football.

 

If you could have one super power, what would it be? Telekinesis.

 

What would you say to your 16-year-old self? “Grow up.” 

 

What’s your proudest moment as a lawyer? A not guilty verdict in a felony trial. 

 

Favorite joke: A man phones a lawyer and asks, “How much would you charge for just answering three simple questions?”

The lawyer replies, “A thousand dollars.”

“A thousand dollars!” exclaims the man. “That’s very expensive isn’t it?”

“It certainly is,” says the lawyer. “Now, what’s your third question?”

 

What do you do to relax? Massage.

 

How would you describe your home? Cookie cutter. 

 

What’s your biggest regret? Not shorting Facebook IPO.

 

What word do you overuse? Reasonable.

 

What’s one thing you would like to learn to do? Fly a plane.

 

What is something most people don’t know about you? I can run the 40-yard dash in under five seconds.

 

If you could have dinner with three people, living or dead, who would they be? Michael Jordan, Abraham Lincoln, and Tiger Woods.

 

What’s the best advice you ever received? Your time is the only thing you have to sell.

 

If you can help it, where will you never return? Flint.

 

What do you drive? A Ford F150. 

 

What would you drive if money were no object? I wouldn’t drive. Rolls Royce.

 

Favorite place to spend money:  Las Vegas.  

 

What is your motto? “The harder you work, the luckier you get.”

 

What would you like carved onto your tombstone? “His true wealth was in his generous heart. And what endless wealth he did have.”
