The Ingham County Bar Association Criminal Law Section will host a presentation on “The Inner Workings of the 30th Circuit Court's Mental Health Court - Screening and Preparing Your Clients,” 9:15 a.m., Friday, Feb. 6, at the State Bar of Michigan, Rooms 1 and 2, 306 Townsend St., Lansing. The presenters are Kristina Zwick, Mental Health Coordinator, and Chris Wickman, an attorney assisting in the Mental Health Court.
This session is a critical one to start out 2015. The 30th Circuit Mental Health Court is set to begin, a specialty court providing supervision and provision of services to clients with a history of mental health problems who have pled guilty to a non-violent felony offense. It is critical for attorneys who practice criminal defense work to know how a client becomes eligible and how the court will work to best advise clients on the practices of the court and whether the court is a good option to explore during plea negotiations.
The meeting, which is free, will last approximately 90 minutes, with ample opportunity for questions.
To ensure enough seating and handouts, RSVP to reception@alanechartier.com or call 517-482-2000 if you have any questions.
Beverages are not provided, attendees may bring their own.
Although the State Bar has asked that attendees do not park in the lot, participants who do will not be required to move their cars.
