Michael J. (Mike) Nichols has accepted an appointment from National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers President Theodore Simon to serve on the association's task force on body cameras.
Nichols, a member of the Nichols Law Firm, PLLC, based in East Lansing, notes this will be a critical mission especially in light of recent events in South Carolina and other cities.
According to Nichols, the committee has already held one teleconference for organizational purposes.
The Meridian Township resident has also accepted an appointment from State Bar of Michigan President Tom Rombach to serve on the task force on 21st Century Law Practice.
In addition, Nichols accepted an invitation to present at the 2nd annual metrology conference for the National College for DUI Defense. The conference, an educational opportunity for lawyers of all experience and practice levels, will be held November 8-11 in Atlanta.
Nichols will also teach this fall the DUI Law and Practice Course at the Lansing campus of the Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley. Law School.
A leading criminal defense attorneys and litigator, Nichols has been practicing law since 1999 with an emphasis on litigation in the areas of criminal law, family law, contractual/intellectual property law, and professional and administrative licensing.
Nichols earned his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University, with honor, and obtained his Juris Doctor degree from The Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
