Alane & Chartier, P.L.C. is proud to announce that one of the firm’s founding partners, Mary Chartier, has been named to the position of Secretary/Treasurer of the State Bar of Michigan’s Marijuana Law Section.
Chartier has argued and won many cases in this area of law, including cases at the Michigan Supreme Court and Michigan Court of Appeals.
She also taught “Medical Marijuana and the Law” at Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
The State Bar of Michigan is only the second state bar association in the nation, behind Colorado, to add a Marijuana Law Section to their recognized platform of specialties.
The Marijuana Law Section will be made up of attorneys from many different disciplines of law, including but not limited to, bankruptcy, family law, worker’s compensation, business, and criminal defense.
One of the goals of the section will be to educate attorneys about the various changes in Michigan’s marijuana laws, so they can better serve their clients.
