David M. Lick, a shareholder at Foster Swift Collins & Smith P.C., in Lansing, has been elected as president of the Ingham County Bar Foundation, succeeding Sue LeDuc.
He previously served as ICBF president from 2009-2010; and served as president of the Ingham County Bar Association in 2010.
Nationally known for his knowledge in Public-Private Partnerships, Lick has developed financing for a multitude of infrastructure needs such as, roads, bridges and wastewater systems. Additionally, he practices in Non-profit Corporate Law and Construction Law.
An alumnus of Michigan State University and the University of Michigan Law School, Lick joined Foster Swift Collins & Smith P.C., in 2006, where he is a member of the Commercial Litigation Practice Group.
He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, American Bar Association, and American Arbitration Association.
A former adjunct professor at Lansing Community College and at the MSU Resource Management Department, Lick is highly involved in the local community and serves on the boards of several other charitable organizations.
He was co-founder of the Lick Family Foundation where he serves on the board; founded the Lansing Community Micro-Enterprise Fund (known as the Entrepreneur Institute); is a past president and board member of the Okemos Education Foundation; and a past board member at Tomorrow's Child.
Other ICBF Board members are Vice-President Kurt Krause, Secretary Max Hoffman and Treasurer Thomas Woods; and directors Nan Casey, Michael Cavanaugh, James Graves, Susan LeDuc, Shenique Moss, Peter Sheldon, Webb Smith, George Zulakis, Jason Hanselman, and Catherine Tucker.
The Ingham County Bar Foundation was established in 2002 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable corporation that supports charitable organizations and events in honor of the legal profession.
Since its founding, the Foundation has returned over tens of thousands of dollars in grants to community organizations.
Recipients of grant funds have included the Veterans Court Foundation, Peer Mediation Programs, and Ingham County Access to Justice Center, as well as The Greater Lansing Food Bank, Cooley Law School 5K Race for Education, City of Lansing MLK Day Observance for Students, H.O.P.E. Scholarship Program with the Lansing Police Department and Lansing Public Schools, Elder Law of Michigan, Highfields, Inc., Ingham County Child Benefit Fund, Cooley Law Service to Soldiers Program, and many more.
The ICBF is a membership corporation whose members select the Board of Directors.
The Foundation has 62 fellows who have pledged to contribute at least $1,000, and approximately 125 annual members paying annual dues of $25.
ICBF membership is not restricted to members of the legal profession. The Foundation has established several fundraising events. Its marquee event is the annual Ingham County Bar Foundation Memorial Golf Classic.
