The Flint Cultural Center Corporation is responding to the Flint water crisis by making a donation to the Flint Child Health and Development Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint.
The donation was a result of the commercial water bill credits recently issued by the City of Flint.
“The Flint Cultural Center Corporation is part of the fabric of Flint and strives to support our community in ways that extend beyond the Cultural Center Campus, our stages and galleries. When the water bill credits came in we thought it was a great opportunity to give back. The Flint Child Health and Development Fund was the obvious choice for us.” states Jody Blackburn the Chief Operating Officer of the FCCC. FCCC Board Chair, Jeremy Piper hopes this donation will be an “inspiration to others and helps move Flint forward.”
The Fund is a supplemental resource to the ongoing pursuit of state and federal funding. Grants will be advised by a committee of community members with representation from residents, Hurley Children’s Hospital, Mott Children’s Health Center, Greater Flint Health Coalition, United Way of Genesee County, and the Community Foundation of Greater Flint.
FCCC owns, manages and maintains the 33-acre Cultural Center campus; coordinates campus-wide planning, marketing, and events; and governs the operations of the Alfred P. Sloan Museum, the Robert T. Longway Planetarium, and the James H. Whiting Auditorium. For more information, visit http://www.fcccorp.org.
