Ryan B. Opel has joined Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP as a partner in its Corporate Department, and will be located in the firm’s Lansing office.
Opel brings nearly 14 years of corporate law experience to Honigman. His practice has included mergers and acquisitions, private placements, private equity, venture capital, corporate finance, supply chain management, franchising, corporate governance, business formations, nonprofit law, and other general corporate, securities and commercial matters.
Often serving as outside general counsel for his clients, Opel has experience representing a range of regional, national, and international clients consisting of public and private companies, governmental agencies and nonprofit organizations at various stages of maturity and in a variety of industries, including life sciences, real estate, restaurant, hospitality, aerospace, manufacturing, information technology, financial services, professional sports and higher education.
Opel, who joins Honigman from Gallagher & Kennedy, P.A. in Phoenix, is licensed to practice in Arizona and North Carolina, and his application to practice in Michigan is currently pending.
Opel earned a J.D., cum laude, from Duke University School of Law, where he was Managing Editor of the Duke Law Journal.
He also received an M.A. in psychology from Duke University and a B.A., summa cum laude, in politics and with honors in psychology from Wake Forest University.
