Ida Farhat, Advanced Certified Paralegal, received the 2016 President's Award presented at the NALA, The Paralegal Association's Conference and Expo held in Las Vegas. This award was developed to recognize exceptional achievement in leadership and contribution to the paralegal profession.
Farhat became one of Michigan's first paralegals while working at her father, Leo A. Farhat's law firm. She continues to carry on her family legacy in the legal community at Foster Swift Collins & Smith P.C., where she has been a paralegal for the last 18 years in the Business and Corporate Practice Group.
A charter member of NALA, Ida has committed years to committee service and most recently as a member of the NALA Certifying Board. As a member of the current NALA Certifying Board, she has contributed to the successful accreditation of the Certified Paralegal exam by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.
She also served as the first membership chair of the State Bar of Michigan Paralegal/Legal Assistant Section and as a founding member of the Great Lakes Paralegal Association in Michigan.
