Ingham County Bar Foundation announces grant recipients

The Ingham County Bar Foundation (ICBF), a vehicle for lawyers and other interested citizens to make charitable contributions for the benefit of the community, gave out six grants during 2017, totaling $13,000.

Friends of Ingham County Veterans Treatment Court received $5,000 as financial support for its efforts to assist veterans with criminal court involvement, including emergency needs.

ICBF granted the Ingham County Sobriety Court Foundation financial support for the assistance it provides to participants in the four Sobriety Courts.

Legal Services of South Central Michigan received $2,000 to support services it provides to domestic violence survivors in Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton counties.

ICBF granted St. Vincent Catholic Charities $2,000 to help provide information to foreign nationals and refugees in the U.S. as to their rights and obligations under U.S. law.

ICBF granted Child and Family Charities $1,000 to support its Ingham Teen Court Project designed to address school code violations by students who will have an option to participate in the program to avoid school suspension, and where peer jurors will address the alleged violation, with the assistance of local area attorneys.

Michigan Community Resources received $1,000 to foster pro bono representation for unfulfilled legal needs of non-profit community organizations serving low-income individuals and communities.
